The Developing an Instructional Package on Vernier Caliper and Micrometer for Physics Teacher Students at Savannakhet Teacher Training College, Academic Year 2020-2021

Abstract

The purposes of this research were threefold: (1) to develop and determine the efficiency of an instructional package on the Vernier Caliper and Micrometer for Physics Teacher Students at Savannakhet Teacher Training College (Academic Year 2020-2021) against a standard criterion of 75/75; (2) to study the students\\\\\\\' learning achievement before and after using the instructional package; and (3) to investigate the students\\\\\\\' satisfaction with the instructional package. The sample consisted of 26 fourth-year physics teacher students. The research instruments included: (1) questionnaires, (2) the instructional package itself, (3) a learning achievement test, and (4) a student satisfaction questionnaire. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and a t-test to determine significance at the 0.05 level. The result found that: 1) Instructional Package Development and Efficiency: The instructional package was divided into two units: \\\\\\\"Using the Vernier Caliper\\\\\\\" and \\\\\\\"Using the Micrometer.\\\\\\\" Each unit clearly defined its purposes, contents, and teaching-learning activities; 2) Learning Achievement: The learning achievement scores of the fourth-year physics teacher students significantly improved after practicing with the instructional package. The post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores at the 0.05 level of statistical significance; 3) Student Satisfaction: The students\\\\\\\' overall satisfaction with the instructional package was rated at a very high level. ( ). It is concluded that the developed instructional package achieved the specified efficiency criteria (E1/E2), and its implementation significantly improved the students\\\\\\\' average learning outcomes related to the Vernier Caliper and Micrometer. Furthermore, the majority of students expressed a very high level of satisfaction with this teaching method. Therefore, the instructional package for the Vernier Caliper and Micrometer is validated and can be effectively utilized in teaching and learning the principles of precise measurement.
